A contemporary interpretation of the Igbo cultural heritage
Myles Igwebuike
A Nigerian-American designer and diplomat, he works across various mediums, including design, sound, and architecture. Through a cross-pollination of disciplines, travel, and materials, he sees himself as a guardian of heritage and a cultural bridge, aiming to affirm a new vision of African design.
The Ukara Technogym Bench epitomizes the artist's effort to transcend boundaries, offering a contemporary interpretation of the Igbo cultural heritage of eastern Nigeria. Similarly to the Ukara fabric where the Ekpe society inscribed Nsibidi symbols, the Bench becomes a living canvas conveying a message of cultural resurgence through bold, hand-painted motifs pulsating with fluorescent energy.

Design to Move
A special exhibition held at Technogym Milano during 2024 Design Week, Design to Move explores the unique and profound connection between design and wellness, style and functionality, emotional and tangible. The exclusive Technogym Bench collection, beyond its functional use, serves as an artistic expression and a symbol of social responsibility. After being showcased at Milan Design Week, the creations will be auctioned off in collaboration with Sotheby's and sold on technogym.com. All profits will be donated to UNICEF*.
